The Principles

Susan "Sam" Miller, RN, MN, ARNP is co-owner, Vice-President, and Director of Clinical Services for CareForce. Sam has over 30 years of clinical nursing experience, including extensive responsibility for the training, supervision and management of other health care professionals. Ms. Miller holds the credentials of Clinical Nurse Specialist and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. Sam has years of experience as a faculty member at the Schools of Nursing at Montana State University and the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education, a joint program of Gonzaga, Whitworth, Eastern Washington and Washington State Universities.
Sam earned her BSN degree from Montana State University and holds Master of Nursing Degree from the School of Nursing at the University of Washington, Seattle. Sam currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Home Care Association of Washington (HCAW). Sam is responsible for supervision of all clinical activity carried out within CareForce. Sam is recognized for her considerable expertise in the laws and practice of Home Care, Home Health Care, Hospice Care, and Geriatric Care Management in the State of Washington. She frequently does educational presentations for local and national professional organizations.

Diedrich Meinken, MSW is responsible for the organization’s business functions. He holds a B.S. degree in Psychology from the University of California, and earned his Master of Social Work degree at Eastern Washington University. Diedrich managed health care systems for over 20 years prior to opening CareForce in 1999. Diedrich served as Executive Director of mental health, substance abuse, and developmental disability services for Stevens County in Colville, Washington. in 1992, he was recruited to become the Executive Director of Family Counseling Service in Everett, WashingtonThe innovative services he developed at FCS were recognized as the Mental Health Progam of the Year - Adults by the National Mental Health Council in 1996. Diedrich has served as a consultant on program development in 5 western states, and has presented at a variety of local, regional, and national workshops and conferences.

Diedrich currently serves as Past-President on the Board of the Washington Chapter of the Society for Social Work Leadership in Healthcare (SSWLHC). He also sits on the founding Board of the Washington Chapter of the National Private Duty Association (WAPDA). He chairs the Legislation and Public Policy Committee for WAPDA.

Sam and Diedrich are married with two sons, Geoffrey, 17 and Stefan, 15. Both boys are active in school athletic and music programs. As a family, they enjoy activities such as camping, fishing, bicycling, skiing, baseball, soccer, basketball, football, and traveling when they are able to slip away from their daily responsibilities. Sam is active as a parent volunteer in the schools that their children attend. In his spare time, Diedrich has coached youth basketball and school math teams. His latest avocation is volunteer photographer for a host of athletic programs at Lynnwood High School. He maintains this web page. They have lived in Snohomish County for over 16 years.
